Biden regrets that the "anti-Semitic attacks" in Amsterdam "are reminiscent of dark moments in history"

MADRID 8 Nov. () –

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has condemned last night’s “anti-Semitic attacks” in the Dutch city of Amsterdam, and has lamented that they are an unequivocal reminder of “dark moments” in history.

Biden has stressed that what happened is “despicable” and that it goes back to when “Jews were persecuted.” Thus, he has confirmed that his Administration has been in contact with the Israeli authorities and also with those of the Netherlands.

At this point, Biden has highlighted the performance of the Dutch authorities in arresting those involved and holding them accountable. “We must fight tirelessly against anti-Semitism,” he said on his social networks.

The local government of Amsterdam declared an emergency this Friday and prohibited the calling of protests throughout the weekend after the clashes that occurred last night between pro-Palestinian protesters and Maccabi Tel Aviv fans.
