Georgia’s opposition parties have called for new demonstrations for this Saturday against the results of the elections held on October 26, which have raised controversy in the country, where several parties have not yet recognized the victory of the government’s Georgian Dream. which they consider close to Russia.
The organization, headed by the National Unity Movement and the coalition for Change, demands “no to the Russian elections”, as stated in the call, according to information from the news portal News Georgia.
The protests this Saturday in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, are scheduled to begin around 3:00 p.m. (local time) and bring together a large number of people. For this, two meeting points have been arranged: the State University metro stop and the Marjanishvili stop.
However, at the moment the final destination of the marches is unknown, although on previous occasions the protests have ended in front of the Georgian Parliament. The opposition maintains that there has been a “massive falsification” of votes and calls for a repeat election “under international control.”
Earlier this week, opponents called for the opening of an independent investigation to review the election results after the country’s president, Salomé Zurabishvili, rejected the results, also questioned by the European Union and the United States.
