Hamas claims responsibility for this Wednesday's attack that injured two people near the settlement of Silo in the West Bank

MADRID 7 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has claimed this Wednesday’s attack near the settlement of Silo, in the West Bank, in which at least two people have been injured, as a “natural response to the genocide” of the Palestinians and the “violations ” against prisoners in Israeli jails.

The attack “is a natural response to the massacres and genocide committed by the occupation against our Palestinian people, and is a direct response to its violations against our prisoners in prisons,” reads a statement collected by the newspaper ‘Filastín’, linked to the group.

Hamas has celebrated that the “heroic operation” proves “the failure of all security measures” and of the actions of the Israeli Army against the “resistance” in the West Bank, ensuring that they will continue attacking “enemy” troops and settlers “in all parts of (their) occupied land.”

These words come after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed this Wednesday that the “terrorist was neutralized” while trying to “run over several civilians and subsequently carry out a knife attack.” At least two people were injured “in moderate condition” and several people suffered anxiety attacks, the Red Star of David said.

The Palestinian group has taken advantage of the attack to call on the “rebellious youth and resistance in the West Bank” to “intensify their heroic operations (…) until the aggression and occupation cease.”

Israeli Army operations and attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have left more than 750 Palestinians dead since these types of actions have increased since October 7, 2023, when Hamas and other Palestinian factions launched a assault that left nearly 1,200 dead and about 250 hostages. Palestinian authorities in the Gaza Strip have since counted more than 43,300 deaths from the subsequent Israeli offensive.
