Kamala Harris has paid tribute to Quincy Jones, calling the late producer and songwriter “pioneer“. The Democratic candidate for today’s presidential election shared a photo of her and Jones, following her death on Sunday at age 91.
“Quincy Jones was a pioneer,” Harris wrote on social media. “As a composer, arranger, record and film producer, created art that brought joy to millions of people“.
“As activistQuincy defended the civil and human rights” he continued. “As a role model, he offered inspiration and mentorship, particularly for young people of color in the music industry. I had the honor of call Quincy friendand I will always remember his generosity of spirit, his selfless support, and his profound kindness.” Harris concluded his post: “Doug and I pray for the Jones family and all who loved him.”
Harris’ tribute came several hours after ‘Vulture‘ I shared one again 2018 interview with Jones in which described Donald Trump as a “crazy son of a bitch” that he was “mentally limited” and a “megalomaniac.” His reappeared statements about the Republican candidate have become viral on the internet since then.
President Joe Biden also issued a statement through the White House, celebrating Jones as a “musical genius who transformed the soul of America one rhythm, one beat and one rhyme at a time.”
