Netanyahu affirms from the border with Lebanon that the objective is to expel Hezbollah north of the Litani River

MADRID 3 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured this Sunday from the border with Lebanon that the objective of the Israeli military offensive in the neighboring country is to expel Hezbollah north of the Litani River as a protection measure for the residents of northern Israel.

“With or without a deal, the key to getting our northern neighbors safely home is to keep Hezbollah out beyond the Litani (River), attack any attempts at rearmament and respond firmly to any action against us,” he declared in a video posted on the official account of the prime minister’s office on Facebook.

“I am here on the northern border. From here you can see and hear the change in reality: planes above and our heroic fighters on the ground, on the other side of the border line, eliminating the entire clandestine terrorist group that Hezbollah prepared to attack to Galilee and (perpetrate) a massacre even greater than what happened in Gaza will no longer happen,” he stressed.

The Israeli leader has highlighted the scope of Israeli military operations. “We reach all parts of Lebanon,” he stressed. Netanyahu also advocates cutting off the “oxygen” that reaches Hezbollah from Iran “through Syria.”

He has also announced “a Government plan to support the reservists and especially their families” in response to “their willingness, their fighting spirit”, without giving more details.

During his visit he carried out an evaluation of the situation with the military commanders regarding the operational panorama, as well as the defense and attack plans. The Israeli president has met with several officers, including the commander of the Northern Command, Major General Uri Gordin, and the commander of the 91st Division, Lieutenant Colonel Shay Clapper.
