South Korea, the United States and Japan carried out new combined exercises this Sunday after the launch this week of a North Korean intercontinental ballistic missile.
The trilateral exercises took place in waters east of Jeju Island in southern South Korea amid fresh tensions over Thursday’s launch of the Hwasong-19 missile into the East Sea.
During the exercises, Korean, foreign and Japanese fighter jets escorted a B-1B bomber loaded with water in the air defense identification zones of Korea and Japan, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a statement. by the official Yonhap news agency.
