MADRID Nov. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Lebanese Prime Minister Nayib Mikati has ordered Foreign Minister Abdullah Bu Habib to file an urgent complaint with the UN Security Council over the “kidnapping” by Israeli Army commandos of Imad Amhaz, a Lebanese citizen. .

Mikati has been informed that Amhaz was taken away by the Israeli military after a raid on the town of Batrun, in the north of the country, and has raised the issue with the chief of staff of the Lebanese Armed Forces, General Joseph Aun, who has informed him of the investigations underway.

The Lebanese Prime Minister has also contacted the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which has also informed him that they are carrying out an investigation into the case in coordination with the Lebanese Army.

The Lebanese Government has denounced the capture of Imad Amhaz and has stressed that he is a civilian ship captain. However, Israel considers him to be a senior member of the maritime section of the Hezbollah militia. The Hezbollah militia party itself has denied that it is one of its members.

The Israeli Army has confirmed that the Navy’s Shayetet 13 special operations unit has carried out a raid in northern Lebanon to capture Imad Amhaz, considered an “important source of information” within Hezbollah’s naval section.

The soldiers arrived by sea and entered a villa in Batrun, south of Tripoli, and took Amhaz away in outboard boats. He would already be being interrogated by Unit 504 of the Military Intelligence Directorate of the Israeli Armed Forces.

According to Lebanese journalist Hasan Illaik, the operation was carried out during the early hours of Friday to Saturday by more than 25 Israeli soldiers on the coast of Batrun, south of Tripoli, in a villa near the beach.

Israeli forces entered the home and took this individual with them before fleeing the country by boat.
