Lebanon increases death toll from Israeli Army attacks to almost 2,900

MADRID Nov. 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported this Friday the death of at least 2,897 people as a result of the attacks that the Israeli Army has been launching over the last year in its offensive against Hezbollah, within the framework of the war in Middle East from October 7, 2023.

The Lebanese authorities have also estimated that 13,150 people were injured in these clashes. In the last 24 hours, 30 deaths have been recorded and another 103 affected, according to the balance they have disseminated on their social networks, which, although it is not specified, includes civilians and members of this Shiite militia party.

This Friday the death of at least 44 people was also known in the Baalbek governorate, in eastern Lebanon, amid the increase in Israeli bombings, which have been repeated at least fifteen times.

The interim prime minister of Lebanon, Nayib Mikati, stated this Friday that the “extension” of Israel’s bombings during the last hours demonstrates “its rejection of all efforts made to achieve a ceasefire”, after resuming attacks against Beirut almost a week after the last ones.

The United Nations has also warned this Friday of the “enormous danger” posed by the attacks and bombings by the Israeli Army for historical heritage sites in Lebanon. In Baalbek there are some Roman temples considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the Middle East, being declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.
