MADRID 30 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The United States Government has assured that Israel “is not doing enough” to provide information about the “horrible” attack in the city of Beit Lahia, in the north of the Gaza Strip, where more than 90 people have died.
“They are not doing enough to give us the answers we have requested,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a press conference, adding that Israel should offer more explanations publicly on the matter.
Likewise, they have reiterated that they continue to pressure the Israeli authorities to clarify what happened. “We are also conducting our own reviews based on information collected independently of the Government of Israel,” he added.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has called on Israeli authorities to carry out a “prompt, transparent and detailed” investigation into the circumstances of the attack in Beit Lahia.
The health authorities of the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), reported on Tuesday that at least 93 people died as victims of an Israeli attack against a residential building in the aforementioned Gaza town.
HUMANITARIAN SITUATION IN GAZA
On the other hand, Miller highlighted that there have been “small improvements” in the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, such as “the opening of additional routes” or “the solution to some security problems”, although the situation is not yet complete. a level that Washington considers “acceptable.”
In this sense, he explained that there continue to be “failures in communication” between Israel and United Nations agencies, while he also referred to the problems surrounding obtaining permits to travel to Gaza by humanitarian workers.
“We have continued to make clear (to Israel) that food, water and medicine need to reach all areas of northern Gaza, including areas where Israel is carrying out military operations,” he stressed.
“Much of the aid that reaches Kerem Shalom or Erez does not reach the people, either because of these bureaucratic obstacles or because it is being looted in many cases by armed gangs operating inside Gaza due to the collapse of the security situation. “Miller added.
