( Spanish) – The Ecuadorian Police reported this Wednesday that in a joint operation with the Spanish Civil Guard, William Alcívar, alias “Comandante Willy”, was captured in that country, identified by the Ecuadorian authorities as the “leader” of the criminal organization Los Tiguerones, classified as “terrorist” in January by the Government.

During the operation, his brother Alex Alcívar, alias “Ronco” was also captured; According to the Ecuadorian police, he is the second in command of the criminal group.

“They would be involved in placing car bombs, hitmen, extortion, attack on the TC Television channel, murder of an Ecuadorian prosecutor who was investigating their crimes and other terrorist acts,” the institution stated in its X account.

The capture occurred in Segur de Calafell, a town near Barcelona, ​​where they lived clandestinely and with false documentation, according to what the Ecuadorian Police told .

He added that the detainees had international arrest warrants for various crimes, including terrorism, organized crime and kidnapping.

“Those arrested are going to be transferred to be placed under the orders of the Spanish judicial authorities, to resolve their legal situation,” the Police stated.

The Prosecutor’s Office pointed to alias “Comandante Willy” as the intellectual author of the violent takeover of the TC Televisión channel last January that forced the Government to decree a state of internal armed conflict in the country. “Willy” was a former prison officer who joined the ranks of the criminal group years ago, according to the Police.

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior also referred to the capture, indicating that “a leader” of an Ecuadorian criminal group and his brother were detained.

“The investigation began after obtaining information that would indicate that this leader had been living in Catalonia for years, under the protection provided by the use of false documentation, and evading the action of justice while continuing to coordinate and direct the carrying out terrorist activities by his organization in Ecuador,” he said in a statement.

The Ecuadorian Police indicated to that in the next few hours more details of this operation will be given through a press conference in conjunction with the Spanish Civil Guard.
