Türkiye kills more than 200 alleged Kurdish terrorists after the attack in Ankara

The president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, confirmed this Monday that the country’s military forces have managed to “neutralize” more than 200 alleged Kurdish terrorists in attacks launched in response to the attack perpetrated by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). against one of the main facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) in Ankara.

Specifically, President Erdogan has detailed that the Turkish Armed Forces have reached more than 470 locations related to the PKK – considered by Ankara as a terrorist organization -, where a total of “213 terrorists have been neutralized”, according to information collected by the Turkish news agency Anatolia.

“We will not receive any message from terrorism, from murderers with bloody hands. The barons of terrorism will not be able to design Turkish policy, they will not be able to build walls of discord between 85 million people, they will not be able to divert our country from their direction,” he said. Erdogan.

Finally, the Turkish president has stressed that the country’s authorities will continue forward and “with determination” with the aim of complying with the progress in the defense sector. “It is the source of pride for our country in the world,” Erdogan concluded.

The PKK, banned as a terrorist organization in Turkey, the European Union and the United States, has been fighting the Turkish state since the 1980s. Its headquarters are in the Qandil mountains in northern Iraq. On October 25, the group claimed responsibility for the attack on the TAI facilities in Ankara.

The Turkish Army usually carries out military operations against the group in Iraq – where the group has numerous bases – and in Syria since the ceasefire between the Government and the armed group was broken in July 2015. The Forces Syrian Democratic Forces, supported by the US-led coalition, are led by the Kurdish militia People’s Protection Units (YPG), with ties to the PKK.
