MADRID 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, celebrated this week’s Israeli attack on Iranian military positions as a “precise and focused” bombing that has achieved “all its objectives.”
“Early this past Saturday, Israel attacked areas of Iran and seriously damaged its defensive capabilities and its ability to produce missiles that would have been launched against us,” the Israeli prime minister said.
Although Netanyahu thanked the United States for its assistance, Washington has been assuring since yesterday that it had nothing to do with the development of the attack, although it did confirm that Israel notified the White House in advance.
The Biden Administration has acknowledged that its Intelligence officials maintained contacts with their Israeli counterparts to coordinate a measured response.
The prime minister recalled in this sense that the Israeli attack was a retaliation for the Iranian bombing at the beginning of the month and that the main objective was to “attack the head of the octopus instead of its tentacles”, in reference to the Palestinian movement Hamas and the Hezbollah militias, which Netanyahu describes as mere extensions of the Islamic republic in Gaza and Lebanon.
“We have a principle that has accompanied us this time and that will accompany us in the future: those who hit us, we will hit them,” added the president during his appearance this Sunday at a ceremony held on Mount Hertzl for the soldiers who fell during the Gaza war and collected by the ‘Jerusalem Post’.
