MADRID 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported this Sunday a “selective” attack against a former school located in the vicinity of the Palestinian city of Gaza, alleging that it currently served as an operations center for the Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas).
“Air Force fighter jets have recently attacked, selectively and with intelligence guidance from the Imam, the Shin Bet and the Southern Command, Hamas terrorists operating in a command and control complex in the area, which was previously used as the ‘Saleh Edin’ school in the Gaza City area,” the Israeli Army explained in a post on its account on the X social network.
The Israeli forces have justified their actions by arguing that the bombed complex had been used by the Islamist organization to “plan and carry out terrorist operations against IDF forces and the State of Israel.”
The IDF, which has used this same reasoning on previous occasions, has defended that, before launching the offensive, it has taken measures “to reduce the possibility of harm to civilians, including the use of precision weapons, aerial observations and additional information of intelligence”.
In the same message, they have denounced systematic violations of International Law by members of Hamas, whom they have accused of “brutally exploiting civil institutions and the population as human shields for terrorist acts.” Thus, the IDF has guaranteed that “it will continue to act with strength and determination against terrorist organizations that use schools and civilian institutions as refuge.”
Previously, the WAFA news agency reported that at least one Palestinian civilian had died and a number yet to be determined had been injured during the night of Saturday to Sunday as a result of a new airstrike by the Israeli Army on a school located west from Gaza City.
To date, at least 42,924 people have died in the Gaza Strip, victims of the military offensive launched by Israel more than a year ago, in response to the attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, which resulted in about 1,200 dead and nearly 250 kidnapped.
The Gaza Ministry of Health, linked to Hamas, has also raised the number of injured to 100,833, after confirming another 289 since Thursday, although the authorities suspect that the number of victims is higher because there may be people under the rubble or in inaccessible areas. .
On the Gaza front there are more than 600 deaths in the West Bank and some 2,500 deaths in Lebanon, where Israeli forces have intensified their attacks in recent weeks with practically constant bombings, also on the capital, Beirut.
