The artificial intelligence of the survivors makes them better able to defend themselves and keep up with you. While they are not exempt from being caught in deadly situations, they are no longer useless, and thanks to this you have a little more time to save them. That is where the technological advance is noticeable, the power of the RE Engine in favor of the experience.
As for the audio work, now all the game’s dialogue is also spoken instead of just being text. However, what adds greater value for the public in Mexico is that it is completely dubbed into Latin American Spanish, and among the talents who performed the voices are legends such as Diego Valenzuela, Humberto VelezErika Ugalde and Raúl Anaya. That’s why we recommend playing with the voices in Spanish.
Did they revive a dead person?
From start to finish, DR:DR is a superior version of the original, and despite being a remake it feels like a fresh proposal, in a market saturated with open-world experiences and games as a service.
Its campaign with an “arcade” type design, focused on achieving a high score and repeating the same missions over and over again, makes it an ideal alternative for those who want to play 10-15 minutes without committing and without perceiving repetition as monotony, but as challenge.
The confrontations against the psychopaths that inhabit the shopping center, the hunt for the best photos and solving the mystery behind this zombie infestation, give it a very high level of replay value that many games could take as inspiration.
Censorship?
Times change and with it cultural products must adapt. Capcom removed options and features that can no longer be considered suitable for today’s entertainment standards.
The “Erotica” photography mode was removed, some characters or dialogue that fell into racist stereotypes were modified, and the clothing of several female characters was changed to make it less unnecessarily revealing. They are only minor adaptations that should not cause alarm among fans.
It’s more important to think about what they added: new weaponsan interface that is friendlier to your eyes and hands, costumes and musical pieces that honor other famous Capcom sagas (see for example resident EvilMega Man and Street Fighter) and more options to take photos worthy of being part of the World Press Photo exhibition.
Conclusions
Dead Rising: Deluxe Remaster Relives a saga that should never have died or been mistreated due to lack of direction and trust.
Although it is sold as a remaster, it is actually a remake. It only improves the playability, the visual and sound aspects, and surprises those who fell in love with this Capcom experiment from almost 20 years ago.
The list of innovations and adjustments is much broader than what we mention here, but rest assured that all changes can be considered good.
Maybe the world will give zombies another chance, maybe Dead Rising will receive more remakes and new games, but even if it doesn’t, please take a walk around this mall, capture your best photos and survive with your favorite weapon.
