Hamas reaffirms that they will not accept a “partial agreement” and demands a ceasefire as a condition

The spokesman and member of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Osama Hamdan, reaffirmed this Thursday that the group will not accept a “partial agreement” with Israel and has demanded a ceasefire in the Strip as a condition for negotiations. of Gaza, where the Israeli Army has killed 42,800 Palestinians with constant bombings carried out for a year.

Hamdan has maintained in an interview with the Al Mayadeen television network that “any serious effort to free the hostages (in the hands of) the resistance must first begin with a ceasefire” in the enclave. However, he explained that a Palestinian delegation has gone to Russia to ask for a truce, without its previous conditions having changed.

“The mediators informed the delegation that there are signs to advance the negotiations, but Hamas maintains the same premises. A delegation went to Cairo (Egypt’s capital) to listen to the proposed ideas, but there is no change in our position. The mood of our Palestinian people today does not accept any partial agreement,” he declared.

Thus, he stated that “the massacres in Lebanon and Palestine confirm the nature” of Israel that “some try to hide”: “They believe they can achieve achievements through massacres and massacres, but it is an illusion. We will not be those who tire before the occupation. The combatants (…) are determined to continue in the resistance”.

Hamas launched a large-scale attack against Israel on October 7 in which 1,200 people were killed and another 240 kidnapped. The Israeli Army responded with a bloody military offensive in the Palestinian enclave that has already left more than 42,800 dead and has caused tensions to spread throughout the region.

Although several attempts at rapprochement have been made throughout these more than twelve months, none have materialized beyond the one reached at the end of November 2023, when the parties agreed to a one-week ceasefire, as well as the release of a hundred hostages in exchange for three times as many Palestinian prisoners.
