Steve Bannon issues statement blaming Kamala Harris for missing previous release dates, even for him

() – Steve Bannon issued a scathing statement from jail criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris and suggesting without evidence that she has a role in extending his prison sentence beyond his earliest possible release date. The statement was obtained by this Saturday night through Maureen Bannon, a former US Army captain, who remains in contact with her father while serving his sentence in a federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut.

“The ‘Queen of Mass Incarceration,’ Kamala Harris, will lose her bid for president on November 5 as black and Hispanic men reject her candidacy and refuse to vote for her due to her failure to implement the First Act. Step by President Trump,” Bannon’s statement said.

The First Step Act is a law passed during the Trump Administration that allowed federal prisoners who are not considered a threat to public safety to be released before the full time of their sentence. Bannon’s mandatory release date would be October 29. Under the First Step Act he would be eligible for release now.

Bannon’s statement accused the Biden administration and the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) of not meeting the release dates allowed by law, and cited thousands of other prisoners without resources who are also eligible for release, but remain serving sentence.

The First Step Law allows minimum and low security inmates to earn up to 15 days each month off their sentences and those credits are capped at 365 days. The Bureau of Prisons has had trouble enforcing the law, in part due to confusion in calculations about how many credits each inmate had earned, as well as computer glitches.

“Harris played politics with people’s lives, and now she will pay for her arrogance: black and Hispanic men hate her and will never vote for her.”

“There is no way he wins Pennsylvania, Michigan or Georgia without this critical vote. “Harris’ BOP is keeping me incarcerated 10 days longer than is legal due to the same lack of FSA enforcement,” the statement said.

Tens of thousands of black and Hispanic men should now be back with their families or on a detailed path out of prison.
