The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, celebrated this Friday the progress made in bilateral talks with the United Kingdom on a “historic” agreement that will allow both countries to strengthen ties and expand their areas of cooperation.
“I am pleased that we have made important progress and have agreed on a number of priority points of the future agreement,” said the Presidency after a third round of negotiations held “in compliance with the understandings between the President of Ukraine and the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, reached during the president’s recent visit to London.
The Ukrainian president has assured that “it will be a historical document”, in which the main areas of “long-term” bilateral cooperation will be included, including security, economy, art, culture and energy.
During this meeting, both sides discussed not only the “key sections” of the agreement, but also the structure of the document and some amendments to the project, explained the deputy head of the Presidential Office, Igor Zhovkva, at the head of the Ukrainian delegation. in the negotiations. Likewise, both delegations have specified a calendar for the next steps in future work on the text of the agreement.
These advances have been announced on the same day that the presidents of the United States, Joe Biden, and of France, Emmanuel Macron, as well as the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer and the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, have highlighted from Berlin their support for Ukraine, even with differences regarding Zelensky’s plan to end the war.
