MADRID 18 Oct. () –
A man died this Thursday and two girls, aged three and five, were injured by the heavy rains that have affected the capital of France, Paris, and have caused flooding and the closure of motorways and railway lines.
The male has succumbed to injuries after a tree fell onto the road. Girls have also been affected and have received medical treatment. His mother was later transferred after feeling unwell, as BFM TV has learned.
Shortly before, French Prime Minister Michel Barnier said that his “thoughts are with those seriously affected by the floods and heavy rains in the southeast” of the country. “It is likely that this meteorological episode will intensify in the coming hours. I urge everyone to exercise extreme caution,” he warned.
The Minister of Ecological Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, has recognized that the bad weather presents “an unprecedented intensity”, after six departments have activated the red alert for flooding and rain. “Follow the safety instructions. They are made to protect you and protect the professionals involved in relief,” he added.
