MADRID 17 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported this Thursday the death of five of its soldiers in combat with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon a day earlier, when fifteen people, including the mayor of the city of Nabatiye, Ahmed Kaheel, died under shelling by Israeli troops.
The IDF has detailed that the deceased are not older than 25 years of age, while nine other soldiers have been injured in the different clashes that took place this Wednesday.
Throughout this Thursday, more fighting has been reported between Israeli troops and Hezbollah in southern and eastern Lebanon. The Israeli Army has launched bombing again after issuing orders to evacuate the civilian population from areas in the Bekaa Valley and the coastal city of Tyre.
The upsurge in hostilities comes after Hezbollah attacked Israel a day after Hamas’s October 7, 2023 offensive — in which 1,200 people were killed and another 240 kidnapped — and which led Israel to unleash a bloody offensive against Gaza, which now has more than 42,400 dead.
