BRUSSELS Oct. 17 () –

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, called this Thursday for the unity of the leaders of the European Union to lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons and advance the Ukrainian victory plan.

In statements from Brussels, where he is participating in the European summit to present his plan to end the war, Zelensky has indicated that his strategy consists of strengthening Ukraine militarily so that diplomacy can make way for it, with the idea of settling Russia to negotiate a just and lasting peace. “It is important that this not only depends on the will of Russia but on the will of our partners and this allows the plan to be real,” he defended.

The Ukrainian leader has stressed that military support for Ukraine now involves allowing it to fire against Russian territory, for which it needs the permission of Western countries that supply long-range systems.

“Only with unity in the EU can we achieve progress, we can mobilize not only EU leaders but other leaders,” he indicated about the importance of European leaders supporting kyiv’s strategy.

For his part, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has reiterated that the EU will be on Ukraine’s side in the long term and has stressed that kyiv is clear about what it needs, so European partners have to be “consistent.” and provide weapons and technology against Russian attacks.
