MADRID 17 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least two civilians have been injured in an attack attributed to the Israeli Army against several targets located near the Syrian city of Latakia, in the west of the country, according to authorities.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense has indicated that the attack took place at 2:50 a.m. (local time). “The Israeli enemy has launched an airstrike from the Mediterranean Sea, targeting one of the points near the southeastern entrance to the city of Latakia, injuring two civilians and causing material damage to private property,” reads a statement published in your Facebook social network profile.

For its part, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in London and with informants in the Arab country, has specified that the objective of the Israeli incursion has been a weapons depot located in the coastal city.

The Israeli authorities recognize attacks in Syria, arguing that they are acting to prevent the establishment of Iranian bases and the shipment of weapons to the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah by Tehran, which supports the Syrian president, Bashar al Assad, within the framework of the war that broke out in 2011 after the violent repression of pro-democratic demonstrations within the framework of the ‘Arab Spring’.
