John Oates talks about his music: past, present and future | Entertainment/Life

FARMER: Record sales were once the marker of success. Now it seems like many artists have to tour constantly to make money. TRUE?

OATMEAL: Yes. That’s all that’s left, really. Until they clone us with AI. I guess it is (a possibility)!

FARMER: Do you have any interest in that? Will there ever be a Hall and Oates hologram tour?

OATMEAL: Well, not under my supervision, I can assure you. After I’m gone, I don’t know what my son is going to do with me. As long as I don’t wear those pink pants I wore in the ’80s (laughs).

FARMER: It’s funny you say that. I was right in the middle of that MTV generation, so of course I remember all those videos: “Private Eyes,” “Family Man,” “Out of Touch.” They were fun. And pink pants may have gone out of style, but the music still resonates, right?
