The firm QS Quacquarelli presented an update of its ranking of the best universities in Latin America and the Caribbean. In the classification, which analyzes 437 educational institutions from 23 countries on the continentdifferent indicators are considered, including the reputation they have among employers.

Among the 50 universities in the region that stand out the most in this aspect, nine are Colombian. Of that figure, six are among the top 20 and three managed to enter the ‘top’ 10.
Among the graduates most desired by companies are those from the University of the Andesan institution that stands out as number five in terms of employability in Latin America. They are closely followed by Nacional, in seventh place, and Javeriana, in ninth place, these three being the only ones to enter the top ten positions of the classification.
According to QS Senior Vice President Ben Sowter, Colombian universities enjoy exceptional recognition from both employers and academics.
“Colombian higher education has historically low investment that has caused budget problems. Despite this, Colombia remains one of the strongest higher education ecosystems in Latin America and the Caribbean. Continued investment, particularly to attract faculty world-class research and fostering high-quality research will be key to future success,” he explained.
The firm also highlighted that each of the ranked universities has demonstrated its ability to produce graduates with the ‘soft skills’ needed for the modern workplace.

1. Universidad de los Andes (5 at the regional level in employability).
2. National University of Colombia (7).
3. Pontifical Javeriana University (9).
4. University of La Sabana (15).
5. Externado University of Colombia (16).
6. Rosario University (18).
7. Eafit University (24).
8. University of Antioquia (31).
9. Industrial University of Santander (UIS) (45).
It is also important to note that in the general ranking, 61 of the educational establishments that were analyzed correspond to Colombian universitieswhich makes the national territory the third nation with the greatest representation in this matter.
