Oct. 14 () –

The Flemish nationalist party Vlaams Belang has achieved a victory this Sunday that will allow it to govern the city council of Ninove for the first time, which will thus become the first Belgian city to be governed by far-right parties since the Second World War.

The formation has managed to win through the candidate Guy D’haeseleer, who has run for the local list of the Forza Ninove party, with an absolute majority after winning 18 of the 35 seats in the city, as reported by the Flemish Radio Broadcasting Organization. and VRT Television.

“No one thought this was possible. Today we are making history, not only in Ninove, but throughout Flanders. Today the inhabitants of Ninove have shown that the voice of the voters is stronger than the cordon sanitaire – in reference to the attempts for excluding them from power–. Now that cord is definitely destined for the trash!”, D’haeseleer said during his speech after the electoral victory.
