The United Kingdom assures that the war in Ukraine is affecting Russian military capacity in other scenarios

The Russian military offensive in Ukraine is reducing the Russian military’s ability to conduct routine maneuvers in other theaters and has pointed in particular to the losses suffered by the Russian Federation Navy in the Black Sea.

The latest report from British military intelligence refers to the maneuvers of the Russian Navy OKEAN-24, carried out between September 10 and 16 after two years of suspension “almost certainly” due to the conflict in Ukraine.

“OKEAN-24 is probably intended to demonstrate (Russian) reach and capability despite the war. Russian media initially reported that more than 400 ships, 120 aircraft, 7,000 vehicles and 90,000 military personnel would participate,” the report noted. British military published in X.

In addition, it points out that the geographical scope of the maneuvers would be the Barents Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the Caspian Sea. “But Russia has grossly exaggerated these figures because it currently only has about 300 ships available,” according to London.

“There has been no OKEAN-2024 activity in the Black Sea, most likely due to Ukrainian attacks in the first six months of 2024,” he noted.
