At least five dead and two injured in a new family massacre in South Africa

MADRID 13 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least five people have died and two others have been stabbed, all members of the same family, in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, in an incident that takes place a month after the massacre of seven other relatives in Hlokozi , in the same province, and yet another family massacre, this time on September 28, which claimed the lives of 18 people in the Eastern Cape province.

This latest event occurred last night in the town of Bergville and the Police are looking for a man identified as responsible for the attack, for reasons still under investigation, reports the South African news portal Eye Witness News.

Hours earlier, the Police reported the shooting death of two suspects linked to the Hlokozi massacre, both killed by police officers when they tried to skip a police checkpoint in the municipality of Umlazi, within KwaZulu-Natal.

Also on Saturday, 15 of the 18 victims of the Lusikisiki massacre, in the Eastern Cape, were buried. The funeral took place in the town of Lumbasi. Three suspects have been arrested for this massacre and one of them has been charged but the Police have not yet released the motives for the crime.
