Kim Jong Un's sister warns of a "terrible disaster" if Seoul's drones fly over Pyongyang again

MADRID 13 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, warned this Saturday that a “horrible disaster” could take place if the South Korean Government flies its drones over the skies of North Korea again.

North Korean authorities have previously denounced the sending of drones with anti-North Korean pamphlets to Pyongyang by Seoul on up to three occasions last week, although Seoul has claimed to be unable to confirm these accusations, the South Korean news agency Yonhap has reported.

“The moment a drone from the Republic of Korea is discovered in the sky over our capital once again will undoubtedly lead to a horrible disaster,” said Kim Yo Jong, who, “personally,” wished “that such a thing should not happen.”

Kim, who is also deputy director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, has called the dropping of leaflets over the country’s capital “a serious politically motivated provocation and a violation of sovereignty” of North Korea and has emphasized on “the basic seriousness” of drones being used for this purpose.

“It is a miscalculation that the Republic of Korea thought it could go unpunished after committing such a serious infringement on the sovereignty of our State, even though the military blatantly claims that they did not do so and avoids the concern of the international community,” he said. added North Korean policy, stating that Pyongyang will take “corresponding retaliatory measures” in “exercise of its right to self-defense” and in accordance with the “principle of correspondence.”

Likewise, the sister of the North Korean leader has criticized Seoul’s “petty excuse” of blaming a non-governmental organization for the presence of the aforementioned drones, arguing that its “uncertain attitude” of “not denying or admitting the case proves that the Army (South Korean) admitted by himself that he is the main criminal or accomplice of the incident.”

“The vile nature and shockingly real image of those dangerous people who play with people’s lives has been revealed to the world once again,” he added, noting that, “although the ROK Army squeezes its brain to evade responsibility for his violation of the sovereignty of the DPRK with incoherent impudence and abnormal sophistry, he will surely pay a high price for violently infringing on the inviolable sovereignty of (his) state.”

The Korean peninsula is witnessing an escalation of tensions motivated by the notable increase in missile tests carried out by Pyongyang over the last two years, coinciding with the hardening of its rhetoric against the United States and South Korea, as well as the strengthening of its military cooperation with Russia.
