The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy has committed to the Union of Professionals and Self-Employed Workers (UPTA) to implement the subsidy for self-employed workers over 52 years of age who are forced to close their business.

This was stated by the president of UPTA, Eduardo Abad, after the meeting he held this Friday with the Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

In statements to the media after the meeting, Abad assured that Minister Díaz will carry out this measure “in the shortest possible time” that has been demanded by self-employed groups, such as UPTA. “It is very good news,” said Abad.

On the other hand, during the meeting, the president of UPTA conveyed to the minister the need for a reduction in working hours so that self-employed workers can reconcile without this affecting their competitiveness.

Regarding this, according to Abad, the minister has referred to the bonuses and training in time management that the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy has proposed this Friday to the social agents during the meeting to address the reduction of working hours and which is framed in the ‘SME 375 Plan’.

“We are perfectly aligned with what the Ministry and what the Minister has put on the table for us and which, in addition, will lead to small self-employed workers and small SMEs being able to fundamentally retain the loyalty of their workers,” has stressed.

On the other hand, at the meeting, the head of Labor also told UPTA that before the end of the year the working group for the National Strategy to Promote Self-Employment (Endita) will be launched to develop the remaining jobs. pending for self-employed workers.
