The British network BBC has announced the beginning of an independent investigation into its labor practices after a series of scandals over abuse and inappropriate behavior by some of its workers, such as the one that led to the six-month prison sentence of its former presenter Huw Edwards for “sending and receiving indecent images” of minors or the reprimand to choreographer Giovanni Pernice for verbal abuse of a contestant on a dance program.

“I cannot stress enough that I am firmly committed to fighting abusive or inappropriate behavior,” said the network’s president, Samir Shah.

The investigation will be in the hands of the consultancy Change Associates and its president, Grahame Russell, with the ultimate intention of “avoiding abuses of power” within the network and ensuring that “all BBC employees behave in accordance with with the values ​​of the middle”.

“For most of us,” Shah added, “it is a pleasure to work for the BBC and no one who works at the BBC should feel afraid or worried while working here, so we must ensure that the BBC is a safe place to work. protected and welcoming for all.

The chain will make public the results of the investigation next spring, according to the statement published this Friday by its corporate division.
