Separatist militiamen claim responsibility for the death of two Cameroonian soldiers

MADRID 11 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

A separatist militia from Cameroon has claimed responsibility for the attack carried out on Wednesday in the North-West Region, one of the two with an Anglophone majority in the country, which resulted in the death of two soldiers, according to videos circulating on social networks.

“This is Mbingo today, October 9. These are the ones who do not let us rest,” says a militiaman, a member of a group called Pitons de Boyo, under the command of the separatist general Nyih, as reported by the website. Mimi Mefo Infos news, headed by journalist Mimi Mefo Newuh.

The English-speaking regions of Cameroon – North West and South West, once part of the British colonies in Africa but which decided to join French Cameroon – have been shaken by conflict following the repression since 2016 of separatist movements, which proclaimed independence of Ambazonia on October 1, 2017.

Since then, armed groups have proliferated and support for the separatists, until then quite marginal, has increased. The Government has responded with harsh repression, during which Human Rights organizations have accused security forces of committing atrocities.
