Nobel laureate Yunus to return to Bangladesh to head interim government

() – Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus will return to Bangladesh to be the head of the interim government, a Yunus Center source has told .

“Professor Yunus agreed to be the head of the interim Government at the request of the students to honor their sacrifices. “He will return immediately after undergoing a small medical procedure in Paris,” the source stated.

The protest group Students Against Discrimination confirmed his return, telling in a text message: “We are very happy to say that Dr. Yunus has accepted this challenge to save Bangladesh as requested by our students.”

Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner, is founder of the Grameen Bank and more than 50 companies. He has received the United States Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal. The recently dismissed Prime Minister Hasina had already ordered legal action against Yunus in 2013 for “tax irregularities,” although she denied all accusations. In 2011, Yunus appeared in a Bangladesh court accused of defamation for allegedly criticizing politicians in 2007.
