The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, met this Thursday with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, to whom he presented his ‘victory plan’ just a few hours after doing the same with the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, and with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“The key is to strengthen Ukraine’s positions and relations with our closest partners in such a way that we create the necessary conditions and fair atmosphere for honest diplomacy,” Zelensky said from Rome, according to his Office.
Likewise, he has assured that they have paid “special attention” to its economic aspect, especially in relation to the country’s “special economic opportunities” and the importance of its most important resources “not falling” under Russian control. .
Meloni, for his part, has stated that the main objective is to place Ukraine in the “best conditions to establish a table to negotiate peace.”
“Peace, as I have said numerous times, cannot mean surrender, as many have cowardly suggested,” added Meloni, who stated that Rome will host a conference for the recovery of Ukraine on July 10 and 11, 2025. .
The two leaders also discussed preparations for the European Council meeting and the decisions that will be taken regarding frozen Russian assets, in addition to discussing the current situation on the battlefront.
