MADRID 10 Oct. () –
The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, denied this Thursday from Paris that they are willing to raise the possibility of a ceasefire in exchange for security guarantees from their partners.
“This is an issue that we are not discussing, there are no truces, nor do we talk about it,” he concluded in a press conference with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, after previously meeting in Downing Street with the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. .
Zelensky has disdained this possibility and although he has acknowledged having read it in some media outlets, he has framed it precisely in the “work” that Russia usually does through them.
As he had already told Starmer hours before in London, he trusts that France will also take care of the shortage of arsenal that Ukraine has suffered in recent months despite the fact that the expenditures of its Western partners are continuous and its opinion on the use varies. of “certain long-range weaponry.”
“We currently do not have enough drones to cover long distances, so we are looking for funds to invest in the domestic industry and certain permits from our partners,” he said, reports the Ukrinform news agency.
This is Zelensky’s fifth visit to Paris since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022. Regarding the issue of allowing Ukraine to use certain projectiles hitherto banned due to fear among its partners of a further escalation of the conflict, the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, is favorable, although he leaves the final decision in the hands of the States.
