Confirmed: The Foxconn plant will be located in Jalisco

The official assured that since this year, the company began to “work on the land process to acquire a mega plant,” but the details of the location of the land and the investment will be announced in the coming weeks in conjunction with the corporate executives.

“This will generate in the future, not only in terms of investment and job creation, but in the possibility that Jalisco truly consolidates itself as the main innovation hub in Latin America and that the company has had confidence in our state,” said Alfaro.

Yesterday, the company’s president, Young Liu, during the firm’s annual conference, Hon Hai Tech Day 2024. Although he did not specify the location, the executive said that the factory is already underway.

“We are building the largest GB200 production plant on the planet,” company vice president Benjamin Ting said at the event. The GB200 is known as Blackwell, it is Nvidia’s most advanced Artificial Intelligence server.

Foxconn is one of the largest companies in the sector. One of its main clients is Apple and now Nvidia, which has benefited from the rise of generative Artificial Intelligence.

Alfaro reiterated that from this announcement it is a fact that semiconductors can be manufactured in Jalisco, which was expected in the next step of the innovation agenda.

“That’s why what happened yesterday has such great relevance. What is announced with this investment and this mega plant that is going to be built here in our city is a before and after in the manufacturing industry. What we are talking about is the manufacturing of super chips and that has to do with the agenda that has also been a very important commitment to the development of artificial intelligence technology,” he said.
