Russia opens an official investigation into the murder of the daughter of Alexander Dugin, Putin's ideological adviser

Aug. 21 () –

The Russian Investigative Committee has announced the opening of a formal investigation into the murder of journalist and political scientist Daria Dugina, daughter of thinker Alexander Dugin, considered one of the main ideological advisers to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Dugina died at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday when a bomb exploded under the vehicle she was driving — and which allegedly belonged to her father, according to investigative sources — as she was driving along a highway near the Bolshie Vyazyomy municipality, less than 50 kilometers from the center of the capital Moscow.

Father and daughter had traveled together to a traditional festival held there, but for unspecified reasons, Dugina decided to leave the event alone.

In the middle of the journey, at least 400 grams of TNT placed in the underside of his vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, exploded on the driver’s side, according to the first results of the investigation, collected by the TASS agency.

Investigators are still examining the scene with the participation of forensic specialists and explosives experts, the committee said in a statement collected by Interfax.

Russia initially accused Ukraine of the attack, something that the kyiv government categorically denied before pointing to “Russian political groups that are trying to divide up the country’s ideological space,” in the words of Ukrainian presidential adviser Mijailo Podoliak.

The Russian committee, which is sure that it is a premeditated operation, already has different recordings of the explosion in its possession and has sent “an order to the operational services to identify the people who committed the crime and other witnesses to the event.” “.
