“I authorize the immediate return of activities” of X in the country, Judge Alexandre de Moraes wrote in his decision, after the platform complied with all judicial demands, including the payment of fines.
Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office said earlier that it sees no reason to prevent the platform from being reinstated, according to a statement.
X has been suspended since late August in Brazil, one of its largest and most coveted markets, after failing to comply with court orders related to the moderation of hate speech and failing to appoint a legal representative in the country, as required by law.
Musk, who had denounced the orders as censorship and called Moraes a “dictator,” backed down and changed his stance in recent weeks, with X blocking the ordered accounts, appointing a local representative and paying outstanding fines.
