MADRID 7 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least eight civilians have been killed and four more wounded in an artillery bombardment in the city of El Fasher, capital of North Darfur.
The El Fasher attack occurred on Sunday afternoon, according to the Sudanese newspaper ‘Sudan Ajbar’, which attributes it to the paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) who are besieging the city.
On the other hand, fighter jets of the Sudanese Armed Forces, the other side in the conflict, attacked RSF targets in the Al Mukran neighborhood, in the center of the capital, Khartoum, on Monday, according to the newspaper. Sudanese.
Throughout the day there have been clashes in the west of the capital, while in the south the fighting and gunshots from tanks seem to have ceased.
The conflict between the RSF and the Army broke out in April 2023 within the framework of an increase in tensions around the integration of the RSF within the Armed Forces, a key part of an agreement to form a new civilian government and reactivate the open transition after the 2019 overthrow of Omar Hasán al Bashir, damaged by the coup d’état of October 2021, in which the prime minister of unity, Abdallah Hamdok, was overthrown.
