A poll gives Saied 89 percent of votes in the Tunisian presidential elections

MADRID 6 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The current president of Tuenz, Kais Saied, would have won the presidential elections held this Sunday with 89.2 percent of the votes, according to the estimate of the pollster Sigma Conseil.

Behind Saied would be Ayachi Zamel, leader of the liberal Azimun party, with 6.9 percent of votes, and Zuhair Magzhaui, leader of the progressive People’s Movement (Echaab), with 3.9 percent support, according to reported the director of the demoscopic company, Hasán Zarkuni, in statements collected by the Mosaique FM station.

Zamel’s campaign has already expressed its dissatisfaction with the survey. “We categorically reject the estimates,” they stressed, while asking to wait for the official results that they hope will allow Zamel to participate in a second electoral round.

Zamel’s campaign has recalled that Sigma Conseil is an unofficial private organization and has stressed that publishing “alleged estimates of results” is illegal under electoral law.

The only official data is that of participation, which stood at 27.7 percent, as reported at a press conference by the president of the Independent Supreme Electoral Authority, Faruk Buasker. The official result of the vote will be known on Monday afternoon, he explained.
