The Ukrainian Army claims that Russian troops have shot down one of their own fighters by mistake in Donetsk

MADRID 6 Oct. () –

The Ukrainian Army has assured this Saturday that the Russian Armed Forces have shot down one of its own combat aircraft over the Donbas by mistake, while it was flying over the region in order to attack Ukrainian positions.

The plane in question was dropping aerial bombs over territory under Ukrainian control when it was hit by missiles from Russian troops and crashed into the territory of the Donetsk region, the Ukrainska Pravda news portal reported, citing Air Force sources in kyiv. .

Although images and videos related to the incident have been released in which an alleged Russian Su-25 fighter is seen at the time of its downing, this audiovisual content does not allow us to determine whether the plane was actually shot down by its own troops or not.

Based on data from the Ukrainian Army on the number of casualties supposedly caused by its troops among the Russian ranks, Russia would have lost 368 aircraft since the beginning of the war, now more than two and a half years ago. However, these figures have so far not been able to be independently verified.
