London Metropolitan Police officer Christopher Harrison must appear in court after being charged with reckless driving in the incident that occurred in May 2023 when, while escorting Duchess Sofia of Edinburgh on a motorcycle, he fatally ran over an elderly woman. 81 years old.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has said that charges will be brought against Harrison for careless driving after receiving approval from the Independent Office for Police Conduct. The accused must appear before Justice in a first hearing scheduled for November 6.

The woman, Helen Holland, 81, suffered serious injuries from the accident, which occurred in the London district of Earls Court. The elderly woman ended up dying in the hospital two weeks later, a victim of her injuries, according to the British press at the time, which quickly covered the event.
