Oct. 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli Army bombed this Tuesday morning the Lebanese Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al Hilweh, located around the city of Sidon, in southern Lebanon, in what is the first attack against this location since the attacks by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7, 2023 and which coincides during the day with the “limited” Israeli invasion of the south of the country.

This attack targeted the house of Munir al Maqdá, leader in Lebanon of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the splinter armed wing of the main party of the Palestinian Authority, Al Fatá, as reported by the Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastín’. .

Both the aforementioned media and the Lebanese television network Al Manar have reported deaths and injuries as a result of the attack, while the Palestinian news agency Maan has assured that it was a failed assassination attempt against the Palestinian leader.

In Ain al Hilweh, built in 1948 to welcome Palestinians who fled their homes after the creation of the State of Israel, more than 47,000 Palestinian refugees are registered, who have been joined by several thousand more who have fled the armed conflict in Syria. In Lebanon, there are nearly 488,000 Palestinians registered with the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
