Netanyahu hopes "new balance of power" will allow Israel to forge "new regional alliances"

September 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has highlighted that the attack against Hezbollah’s leadership has led to a “new balance of power” in the region that could allow the construction of “new alliances.”

“The change in the balance of power creates the possibility of creating new alliances in our region, because Israel is winning. Our enemies and friends once again see Israel for what it is, a strong, determined and powerful country,” Netanyahu declared in press conference reported by ‘The Times of Israel’.

However, he warned that “there are still difficult days ahead” because “even now we must not forget that we are still in the middle of a difficult war, with high costs, and that is why cohesion in our ranks is necessary as a necessary condition.” .

Netanyahu’s press conference has been called to announce the reincorporation of the New Hope party into the coalition government and that the party’s leader, Gideon Saar, will be minister without portfolio. This incorporation “adds to internal unity, a unity against our enemies,” according to Netanyahu.

“It is no secret that we have had disagreements in the past, but since October 7 we have left all resentments behind,” the prime minister highlighted.

Saar, for his part, has argued that it is “the most patriotic decision.” “It is important to strengthen Israel, its government and its unity and cohesion. That is why I have accepted Prime Minister Netanyahu’s request to join the government and contribute my experience and capacity to its decision-making work,” he explained.

Saar revealed last week that Netanyahu offered him the post of defense minister, now in the hands of Yoav Gallant of Netanyahu’s party, Likud, who has repeatedly expressed his disagreements with the prime minister.

With the incorporation of Saar, Netanyahu’s coalition raises support in the Knesset or Israeli Parliament to 68, a chamber made up of 120 seats.
