Urges partner countries not to participate in initiatives outside kyiv because “they can only complicate the process of achieving peace”
September 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has shown its rejection of the support expressed by Switzerland for the peace proposal of China and Brazil, which defends a six-point project in which they urge the parties “not to expand the battle front” and seek a negotiated solution to the conflict.
The Ukrainian authorities have taken the opportunity to remember the summit held in Switzerland in mid-June and in which more than a hundred countries were present to address a solution to the conflict based on the kyiv proposal, which does not contemplate any other scenario than that of Russian withdrawal.
Brazil and China have worked in recent months on their own peace plan which, although it is strongly rejected by kyiv, seems to be gaining more and more followers. This week, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Beijing and Brasilia have gathered more support for their plan.
However, in kyiv they remain firm and the Foreign Ministry has published a statement in which it emphasizes that “there is nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine”, a phrase repeated by President Volodymyr Zelensky to emphasize the need for the country to be part of negotiations about their own future.
Likewise, the diplomatic portfolio has reiterated that any proposal for peace in the country “should be based on the United Nations Charter and include respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.”
“We consider that the President of Ukraine’s Peace Formula is the only path to a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace. It is not necessary to create additional formats and platforms to discuss ways to achieve peace in Ukraine,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated. .
kyiv has stressed that any initiative that does not comply with the UN Charter “only creates the illusion of dialogue, while the aggressor continues with his criminal activities”, which is why they urge Switzerland and the rest of the countries to avoid participating. in this type of initiatives that “can only complicate the peace process.
