You may need to contact your vehicle manufacturer directly to resolve this issue affecting incoming calls on Android Auto.
While Google still has to fix a lot of things in Android Auto, especially when it comes to new updates that always lead to so many extra problems, the truth is that sometimes Mountain View they are not to blame for some functions of the vehicle’s operating system not working properly.
And it is that for a long time some users who use Android Auto cannot answer incoming calls through the screen inside the car, and it seems that it is not an operating system error, but from a fault caused by the car manufacturer’s own head units.
That is the conclusion that Google has reached after an arduous investigation of several months, in a problem reported by the user community at the end of last year and that they are going to have to contact the manufacturers of their own cars if they want to solve it.
The bug was as simple as it was annoying, and it is that although the user could hear the ringtone of the incoming call in Android Auto, the system did not show the typical incoming call interface so it was impossible to answer it. The only way for the user to answer was to simply pick up their phone and answer the incoming call manually.
Now in a message published by Google itself in its support forumshave indicated that they have investigated the problem and have discovered that Android Auto has nothing to do with this failure, if not by a mode enabled by default by the vehicle manufacturer.
“We investigated the issue and found that incoming calls are automatically rejected due to a car-specific Do Not Disturb mode being enabled. This issue is not caused by the Android Auto app. We suggest you contact the car manufacturer to find out how to correct the problem.”, they report.
So if you’re experiencing this problem and you can’t answer incoming calls on your Android Auto vehicle head unit, first test if Android Auto is really the culprit by seeing how everything works in another car, and once you know the problem comes of the main unit, you should contact the car manufacturer.
It is currently unknown what type of vehicles and which specific head units are experiencing this bug with incoming calls on Android Auto.
