Companies are looking for new ways to make their products profitable, and it seems that LG has opted to add ads to its customers’ televisions, and it is already happening in Spain
Specifically, the screensaver system that activates the brand’s Smart TVs, including the company’s most expensive OLED models, this starting to show advertisements before background animations are activated. The ads are personalized to each location.
It seems that, at least for now, it is a service in testing that only shows ads from LG’s own content streaming application, but LG has already shown on occasion that its plans involve adding third-party ads in its Smart TV and, in fact, at the beginning of the month The company boasted about the effectiveness of these ads at rest.
In this way, users will not only have to watch ads on open TV or on the content streaming services themselves such as Netflix (with its new ad plan) or Prime Video (which now includes them by default), but The television itself will also show them.
Luckily, today it is possible to disable these ads (at least until the company decides to force them to be displayed), through the settings menu, additional settings, “Screensaver Promotions.”
