Maria Corina Machado on France 24: "All Maduro has left is violence"

On Saturday, September 28, two months have passed since the presidential elections in Venezuela. The National Electoral Council (CNE) declared President Nicolás Maduro the winner, which opened an internal crisis, with protests repressed with violence and mass arrests, and also a regional diplomatic schism. On the eve of a new anti-Chavez mobilization and when the issue is planned for the UN General Assembly, the most visible face of the opposition, María Corina Machado, spoke with France 24, from an undisclosed location in Venezuela, about what has happened since the elections. In addition, she explained what role the candidate Edmundo González, who has taken refuge in Spain, will play now, and what prospects there are for a negotiation with the ruling party. Regarding the Government, she is blunt: “The only thing left for Maduro is violence.” An interview by Marc Perelman.
