Ukraine denounces an attack with around ten drones against the capital, kyiv
September 26 () –
At least one person was killed Thursday in a missile and drone attack by the Russian military against the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa, authorities said, adding that another drone attack was carried out against the capital, kyiv.
Odesa Governor Oleg Kiper said on his Telegram account that “the enemy attacked Odesa last night with missiles and drones” and stressed that “air defense systems worked extremely hard, destroying most of the enemy targets.”
However, he confirmed that “a 62-year-old woman has died as a result of the rocket attack on the city of Odessa” and added that there were also “damaged buildings and cars”. “The authorities have recorded the consequences of this new crime committed by the Russians against the civilian population of Odessa,” he said.
For his part, the head of the Military Administration of the City of kyiv, Serhiy Popko, has spoken of “a criminal attack” by Russian troops against the Ukrainian capital and has denounced that “the aggressor has once again violated International Humanitarian Law and has attempted to launch an air attack against the civilian population and infrastructure of kyiv with the help of drones.”
Popko stressed that Russian troops had launched “more than a dozen drones” against the capital “for five hours.” “Around a dozen kamikaze drones have been neutralized by air defense systems,” he said, before confirming a fire in a residential building in the Pechersk district.
In this regard, he stated that the flames, which have already been controlled, were caused by “a depressurization in a gas pipe due to the fall of debris from a drone,” while pointing out that around 20 vehicles have suffered damage and that fragments of the aircraft have also fallen on a nursery, without causing any casualties.
“There are no casualties so far. The information is being clarified. Once again, I call on all residents of kyiv to observe safety rules and use shelters. Only reliable protection can guarantee your safety during numerous attacks by the inhuman Russians,” he concluded.
