The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Tuesday that it has managed to intercept several unmanned aerial vehicles launched by the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah near Mount Carmel, some 50 kilometers from the border with Lebanon, in what is its attempt at a longer-range drone attack on Israeli territory.

Israeli military authorities have initially reported the activation of air alerts in the area of ​​Mount Carmel, south of the city of Haifa.

A total of three drones were detected, “some of which were intercepted,” the Israeli army said on its website. Authorities said an investigation had been launched to gather more details about the incident.

This incident marks the longest-range drone attack ever attempted by the Lebanese militia in the ongoing confrontation with Israel. All this while the IDF continues its offensive on Lebanese territory in an attempt to attack some of Hezbollah’s main structures.

In recent days, the Israeli army has carried out attacks on several locations in Lebanon, as well as in the capital, Beirut, in which around 600 people have been killed and more than 1,000 others have been injured. Israeli authorities have claimed to have killed several Hezbollah commanders.
