() –– In 2017, the adult board game Cards Against Humanity bought land on the U.S.-Mexico border to interfere with former President Donald Trump’s border wall construction. Now, it’s suing over that land after another billionaire allegedly moved in without permission.
Chicago-based Cards Against Humanity LLC, publisher of the popular card game, filed a lawsuit Thursday US$ 15 million civil lawsuit against Elon Musk’s SpaceX for allegedly trespassing on its land in Cameron County, Texas.
While Cards Against Humanity’s land was vacant when they purchased it, the lawsuit claims SpaceX began encroaching on their property, which is located just three miles from SpaceX’s Starbase launch facility. Images in the lawsuit show a construction site and equipment, and the lawsuit claims, “SpaceX has never asked permission to use the property, much less for the egregious appropriation of the property for its own lucrative purposes.”
SpaceX contractors entered the property, the lawsuit says, dumping huge piles of gravel and bringing in generators to run equipment and lights.
Cards Against Humanity LLC (CAH) said in 2017 that its crowdfunding scheme was aimed at making the wall’s construction “as expensive and time-consuming as possible.”
SpaceX began building in the area in 2014. In July, Musk said at X that he would move SpaceX headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, a company city still under construction.
Both Musk and Trump appear in the card game, which keeps up with current events.
The suit claimed that by allowing Musk’s company to illegally operate on the property, CAH was damaging its reputation among its supporters.
“CAH supporters have developed unprecedented loyalty and expectations that the company will live up to its politically active image, especially with regard to abusive tactics by government and wealthy corporations against ordinary people across the country and around the world,” the lawsuit states.
SpaceX has not responded to ‘s request for comment.
