Tropical Depression Diez-E is expected to intensify and become Tropical Storm John off the coasts of Guerrero and Oaxaca, southern Mexico

( Spanish) –– Mexico’s National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that Tropical Depression Diez-E, present in the Pacific Ocean, will intensify this Sunday until it becomes Tropical Storm John off the coasts of Guerrero and Oaxaca, in the south of the country.

The government agency’s forecast – released in a press conference and a statement – is that when John forms, it will have winds of 63 to 119 kilometers per hour.

Conagua expects John to move toward the coasts of Oaxaca and Chiapas during the first days of the week, and that in its path it will generate torrential rains in those states as well as in Guerrero, Tabasco and southern Veracruz.

In light of this situation, the agency called on ports and vessels in these entities to take extreme precautions, as well as for citizens to be attentive to the warnings and recommendations of civil protection.

In its forecasts, Conagua expects between 15 and 18 tropical cyclones to form in the Pacific this season. For the Atlantic, it estimates that there will be between 20 and 23 tropical cyclones.
